Theatre Machine is BIGLITTLE's brilliant training ground for children looking to build confidence and skills in performing arts with classes catering for groups from reception age up to year 10.  The classes are dynamic and friendly and well suited to those young people who may be taking their first steps into the world of performance and who maybe don't yet feel ready to audition for a Youth Theatre place.

The programme is run by very experienced staff, all of whom have an extensive background in professional performing arts.  The full range of classes currently take place in two centres (Boscombe & Ringwood), with additional Mini Theatre Machine sessions run on Saturday morning/lunchtime alongside our Youth Theatre rehearsals at Bournemouth School for Girls.

All Theatre Machine  students perform in their annual Showcase production in March each year, and many, particularly in the early years, have the opportunity to do LAMDA examinations in speech & drama.

MINI THEATRE MACHINE

Mini Theatre Machine (Foundation level) offers a full introduction to the joy of Acting, Singing and Dancing in an hour long class.  Children work with a Choreographer/Director on a variety of musical theatre material.

The LAMDA Introductory syllabus is also introduced at this level developing confidence in speech, characterisation and communication.  Children have the option to be entered into LAMDA examinations.

LAMDA is the UK’s largest statutory speech and drama awarding body and has a reputation for excellence across the globe.  LAMDA examinations are designed to equip learners, whatever their age or aspirations, with a range of skills that will serve them throughout life.

Within the Mini Theatre Machine class the children work on slightly different material in two age groups (Reception/Year 1 & Year 2/Year 3) and also work together as one group to perform.   Children in Mini Theatre Machine have the opportunity to perform a showcase on stage in the Spring term each year.

JUNIOR THEATRE MACHINE

This class enables students aged 8-11 to further develop their skills in Musical Theatre.  Singing, dance and drama are taught as separate disciplines in order to develop confidence and competence as an individual, working with a Choreographer and a Musical Director.

The class is non-syllabus and runs for an hour and a quarter. The Musical Theatre session teaches ensemble based songs and choreography from musicals (old and new).  The Acting session focuses on improvisation and acting technique.

Students can progress through all the stages of  TheatreMachine, or transfer to other classes should they wish to concentrate on a single discipline, such as Acting or Dance, or they may audition for a place in BIGLITTLE Youth Theatre.

Children in Junior Theatre Machine have the opportunity to perform a showcase on stage in March each year.
